Among many other things, the Castro Theatre is known for its sing-alongs, when it screens popular musicals with captions so that the audience can belt those lyrics together. Expect a very energetic crowd—the staff often hands out goodie bags with various props for everyone to use throughout the movie. They’ve shown movies like Sound of Music, The Little Mermaid, and Grease. Definitely wear something fun if you can—there’s often a costume contest. And if you get there early, you’ll get a chance to hear the in-house organist perform.

Beautifully restored single screen theater in the Castro from 1922 with a working Wurlitzer organ that plays before each movie (a rare treat!!). Showing old and new movies changing almost nightly. If you are lucky you may even be here when one of their famous sing along movies is happening. Check their website for their schedule.

A movie theater slash theater theater, this is one of the Castro's most iconic institutions. They play movies as well as host sing-a-longs to Disney movies, host celebrities, etc etc. Get their on time to see the organ player rise out of the ground!

Don't miss this beautiful theater! The historic Castro theater begins each show with a pipe organist performing music related to the movie. Most weekends they have sing-a-longs, complete with costume contests. Generally the matinee features kids in dress up, and the later show features more adult dressing up. My teen once won for their Wizard of Oz wicked witch cosplay!
