When the weather is nice, you can barely see the grass due to the throngs of people lounging around. Luckily, the park was recently renovated and is big enough that you're bound to find a spot you like. The southwest corner is good for a panoramic view of the city skyline (and usually far enough away from the folks enjoying their herbal refreshments on the northern slope). There's also a nice kid's playground, although it's geared more towards older kids.

Encompassing nearly 16 acres, Mission Dolores Park is one of San Francisco's most popular parks, the vibrant heart of its equally vibrant, culturally diverse neighborhood. On sunny afternoons people flock to the park to play, picnic, lounge, walk their dogs, and enjoy spectacular views of the city's skyline and beyond.

SF has a huge park culture so if you're here on a nice day you HAVE to save some time to enjoy at dolores park. On the weekends, it's a party with groups gathering everywhere, enjoying drinks, food, etc. I like to pick up some food & ice cream from Bi-Rite.
