You have to try haggis mash potatoes while you're in Edinburgh. Delicious food all round.

It's called Makar’s Gourmet Mash Bar, not The Crafter's Barn... 9 North Bank Street; www.makars-rest.com A makar is a term from Scottish literature for a poet or bard. Great place, close to the Writer’s Museum. This restaurant serves comfort food at its finest. Great vegetarian choices too. I highly recommend a drink they serve which is Edinburgh Gin flavoured with Scottish raspberries and Prosecco. There are two locations, my favourite is at 9 North Bank Street, close to the Writer's Museum. There is another location at 91 Shandwick Place, just west of Princes Street.
