Probably the most Instagramable place the last years in Thessaloniki. This spot is so beloved and famous among all locals. George Zongolopoulos - a famous local sculpturer - had his work excibited in Thessaloniki waterfront in 1997. Since then millions of people have admired the sunset colors from there and have taken their photo there. During summertime, one can enjoy there also street musicians playing their music.

Thessaloniki's New Esplanade is a must visit place, especially at night where the lights do their magic, creating a great atmosphere by the sea.

Giorgos Zongolopoulos' sculpture Umbrellas is one of the artist's most well-known iconographic motifs. Umbrellas are located at Thessaloniki's New Beach, at the height of the statue of Alexander the Great, near the Macedonian Museum of Modern Art, at the entrance of the Macedonian Museum of Contemporary Art, and at the entrance of Palaio Psychiko (in Faro), a region linked to Zongolopoulos there was his home, which today is the seat of the homonymous Foundation he founded just before he died and to which he bequeathed all his collection and the intellectual property rights of his work.
