Picturesque park with an array of recreation options. The town of Mt. Vernon has a sweet, historic downtown. Stop in at Fuel for a cup if coffee and a housemade bakery item!

Beautiful soaring limestone bluffs hover over Cedar River. Hike to the stone gazebo on the river bluff. If the river is low enough, there is a giant sandbar below the dam.

If you like to hike wooded trails, you will love Palisades State Park. It's a short drive down Highway 30, and offers the best of Iowa's nature.

Palisades-Kepler State Park lies along the beautiful Cedar River in Linn County. The 840-acre park has dramatic river bluffs, deep ravines, majestic hardwood trees, a large variety of wildflowers and an abundance of wildlife. Lots of hiking trails and plenty to see.
