Balboa Cafe

I remember it as a place where we’d all go and hang out after work in the ‘70s and ‘80s, with a great bar scene. Back in the old days, it was a great pickup place. Now it’s a little bit of that, but it’s also a fun place to see and be seen. One of the best hamburgers in San Francisco. Because it’s owned by the PlumpJack Group, you’re apt to see the Gettys or our past mayor Gavin Newsom there on a fairly regular basis. It’s sort of like their private dining room they share with the rest of San Francisco. I always run into somebody I know there, somebody old-school San Francisco.
