Sample Coffee

Our neighbour in Surry Hills, this is where I’d go if I wanted a coffee after we close. A chalkboard menu says what single-origins are available, and there’s a glass case full of pastries made at Sample’s St Peters kitchen. A cherry wood bar runs across the tiny space. You don’t know how the baristas get in—it’s like they belong behind the bar. Get a long espresso and a filter and sit in—usually they’re both made from the same beans so you can taste them two different ways, which I’m totally into.
