Shorter hike only 2.2 miles in and out, but steep with great views. Make a day of it! Do this hike and visit Floyd Virginia.

Beautiful 360° view of Floyd and Willis. There is a parking lot near top so its not a long, hard hike.

Highest point in Floyd County standing at 3971 ft. Buffalo Mountain is home to many indigenous species. It boasts an amazing 13 rare plant occurrences, 3 rare animal occurrences, and 6 significant natural communities. The combination of high-elevation, wind-exposed openings at the summit, and magnesium rich soils make it unlike any place else in the Commonwealth. At the top of the mountain, you have a magnificent view of 3 states (Virginia, North Carolina and Tennessee).
