Without the buzzing, walled terrace that spills out below an alley near Bath Abbey, you would hardly know The Hideout was there. A small but jovial den – once for highwaymen and thieves, now for lovers of a good dram – there are more than 200 different types of whisky on the shelves of the stone walls. Staff will suggest that you try a shot of Crab Smasher which was invented here. It’s an invigorating blast of peaty 10-year-old Ardbeg, Scapegrace Gold gin, Green Chartreuse and bitters.

Small bar with a focus on all thigs whiskey. Can get very busy, but if you appreciate a good selection of whiskey, then worth a visit.
