The tavern’s white tablecloths and long, sexy bar attracts more of a 30-and-older crowd and is not strictly for vegetarians. You’ll see after-work dinners and old friends catching up. Try the vegetarian dishes off the tasting menu paired with wine for nice combos like carrot and citrus salad with a riesling, or the mushroom chawanmushi with a marsanne. My vegetarian entree of choice—Brussels sprouts fried rice, poached farm egg, and sunchokes. And yes, that’s all one dish!

Gramercy Tavern is the king of farm-to-table cuisine in New York City. The front room is one of the best places in New York for a leisurely lunch, or a romantic meal during the week. Very romantic!
