This down-home-stylish bar was formerly a local luncheonette for the neighborhood’s Italian old timers — as well as a one-time, well, candy store. It’s transitioned to a bar and performance space, and the owner is a set designer, so the back room has cleverly been made to look like a train car. The main attraction, though, is the stage — which accommodates the full range of Billyburg’s sonic underground, from rockabilly to ska. Chinese newspapers laminated on the table-tops give the place a kitschy feel, but the bar staff take their job seriously, expertly executing martinis and Manhattans for the nightly throngs of neighborhood hotties who soak it up with the only food on the menu: a grilled-cheese sandwich.

This place has been around forever! A great bar in the front with live music in the back.

Music every night of the week but gets crowded on the weekend. Very popular.

This is a really great bar, and its the Oldest/longest running music venue in Brooklyn. The music is in the back room, so if you want just the bar, then you got it. Also, they have great sandwiches. Its super cheap, can of beer + a shot is $5.
