DIVE THE LARGEST LIVING BARRIER REEF IN THE WORLD. Off Ambergris Caye, over 270 dive sites to choose from. Diving the second largest barrier reef in the world, is nothing less than amazing. Water temperatures here are fairly constant all year long, ranging between the mid to high 80's to the low 70's. A lightweight dive "skin" or a (1/16 inch) "shorty" wetsuit, is perfect for this area. The barrier reef, is located so close to Ambergris Caye, you can find yourself at your diving site within a matter of minutes. Visibility normally ranges between 50-150 feet. The Barrier Reef offers many areas to explore from cracks and crevices to canyons, tunnels and underground caves. Regardless of your skill level, there is a dive for everyone, here is a brief description of each: Diving Cuts or Channels – There are several cuts in the Barrier Reef along the shores of Ambergris Caye. Cuts and channels provide more of an open area, making an excellent dive for beginners or novice divers. Diving Canyons or Tunnels – Off the coast of Ambergris Caye, there are between 75-110 canyons over grown with corals. From the dock, you can be at some of these canyons within minutes. Visibility is excellent, particularly in the mornings. Canyon and tunnel diving can be a bit more tricky, best for intermediate divers or beginning divers with a guide. Diving Underwater Caves – Marine life is generally sparse and unpredictable in the caves and tunnels. If you are a novice or intermediate diver, we do not recommend exploring underwater caves, until you have specific training to do so. Reef diving is a perfect opportunity for beginner and intermediate divers to obtain some added experience, while enjoying the beautiful coral formations and marine life at the same time. Be sure to pay attention to your safety briefing, and following the instructions of your guide. After each dive, you are provided with a cold beverage and fresh fruit.
