Located just on the axis of the antique line belonging to the Ciocadia-SăceluVoiteşti sub-Carpathian hills, Sacelu resort owes the appearance and development of the mineral waters coming to the surface through the slopes and cracks formed in the conglomerates of Săcelu. The tectonic movements at the end of the tertiary led to the rise the quenching of the sediments transported by the Parang Mountains, outlining the area of Subcarpathians and Piedmont. The dominant physico-geographic feature of Gilort and Jiu submarines is given by the double alternation between depressions and hills: the sub-mountainous depression, the internal sub-Carpathian hills, the Câmpu-Mare depression Tg-Jiu
