I couldn't possibly recommend this incredible bookstore and healthy cafe without talking about the town of Montague. As you drive in you immediately notice little nods to eastern meditation and mindfulness practices. Then, you reach the town square, which appears to sometimes act as a community meeting space. It's down-to-earth New England at its finest. Hours: Monday-Friday 10AM -6PM

Yankee Magazine has done an article about this local gem. Part Book Store, part library and a beautiful restaurant overlooking the Sawmill River.

For a nice day-trip, head to The Bookmill in Montague, set along a scenic river and waterfall. Get a coffee and take a look at the many rooms of second-hand books. (30 mins by car)

Their motto: "Books you don't need in a place you can't find." Great food, art displays, great book shopping and just sitting and enjoying on warm or cold days!

One of our favorites, an old mill building that is now a used bookstore. Also find Lady Killigrew cafe and the Alvah Stone there.
