Along the coast from Pett Level is Winchelsea Beach, a stretch of open shingle beach nestled between Pett and Rye Harbour. Enjoy the wonderful bird life in the nature reserve, or take a stroll along the shore.

Winchelsea Beach is usually much quieter than nearby Camber. Long walks on the hard sand when the tide is out with big skies and views across the marsh on one side and the sea on the other are always a joy, regardless of the weather and time of day. And there are lots of rock pools for children to explore and the amazing sculptures of the tide-worn groins to wonder at. Further away, Camber Sands has miles and miles of sandy beaches and dunes, but can get extremely busy and crowded in the summer months and at weekends.

Winchelsea beach is a great alternative to Camber Sands. It is a much quieter beach, mainly pebbles. There is sand if the tide is out.
