Bergamo is quite far from Valmadrera (1h by car), but it is reachable by train from lecco (50 min far from lecco by train). Moreover it is 20 minutes far from the Orio al Serio Airport (and there is a bus coming directly from there to the airport) so if you're arriving/leaving from/to this airport and you have a half day to spend, Bergamo it's worthen. the old town situated on the hill above the city is a real beauty especially at sunset.
