The church of Agios Dionysios, the protector of the island, is located close to the port. It has an impressive bell tower, the tallest in the town, and hosts the shrine of the saint.

The church of St’ Dennis is the most important on the island as it is devoted to St’ Dennis, the patron saint of the island and its relic is kept in a silver coffin. The church has Venetian style and the bell tower is an exact copy of the bell tower of St. Mark’s in Venice. The church is beautifully located on the seaside front of the city and is immediately recognizable when the ship approaches the port of the island. In the evening, the lights surrounding the bell tower create beautiful reflections in the sea. Next to the church you will find the monastery of St’ Dennis and a museum that explains the history of the church and the Saint.
