If you visit Sioux Falls, you need to see "The falls," located at the north end of downtown. Go up the tower for the best view of the spot that led the wagon trains to stop and settle here.

Falls Park features a rapid, gushing waterfall which flows over a basin of Sioux Quartzite rock formations. Sioux Quartzite is a reddish rock which is quarried in the area. Many historic buildings in this part of South Dakota are made from Sioux Quartzite bricks. At the Falls Park there is a few historic sights, including remains of the Queen Bee Mill and the former power plant. It is worthy to have a local expert like myself give you a tour, to make more out of your stay.
