Walk the beach: Take a couple of hours and explore from end to end, find the caves in North and the exciting rocks around the south, be careful! Look and listen for birds and be enthralled by the pounding ocean. This is the wild west coast! Swim a lot: Careful when swimming, there are lifeguards on the South Piha side, swim there.

Beautiful black sand surf beach. Wild west coast and can get spectacular sunsets. Always swim between the flags. Lifeguards on late October to April.
