New Market Battlefield is the site of an important Civil War battle in which VMI cadets played a pivotal role. The visitors area and museum are superb and walking the actual field of shoes is awe inspiring.

History buffs will enjoy a trip to nearby New Market Historic Civil War Battlegrounds and Museum. Walk the grounds of the 300 acre site and relive the battle that took place there on May 15th 1864. An Emmy winning film "Field of Lost Souls" is shown there every hour inside the museum.
