It is basically the opposite of East Beach. Although crowded it is relatively close and has super convenient parking and facilities. Scarborough takes a little over a half an hour to reach (if the summer crowds aren't too bad). And has good bathrooms, shower facilities, and food. Parking is plentiful albeit expensive if you arrive and pay for a full day.

Nice wave action, easy walking distance. We prefer the right side near Scarborough South.
