Short, but intense, hike straight up the side of a historic crater. Views of the ocean, city, and mountains make it well worth the climb. Tip: Pack a snack and hang out up top, then hike down the opposite side to end up in the botanical gardens, and catch an Uber back to town.

Great family hike and introductory experience for hiking novices. Very little shade, though. Stay hydrated!

Diamond Head Crater is a great hiking spot for all ages. It has multiple levels of complexity and gets more challenging as you go higher up the rim of the crater. There is a cool little pineapple and coconut drink stand inside the crater. Bring cash because entry to the park is a few dollars. If I…
