A gentle walk with a good footpath around this small lake (tarn) between Ambleside and Coniston. It is popular and can get busy. Owned by the National Trust who provide a car park with toilets.

Great walk with family, pushchairs and the less mobile. Path around the tarn. Sometimes has ice cream van.

You can walk to Tarn Hows from the cottage or if needed, you can use the car park, but once there, the walk will suit all abilities. If you are a member of the National Trust, you can arrange to hire a mobility scooter for those needing a bit more support.

If you're visiting the South Lakes region, this is a very popular easy 2 mile walk on a good path around this beautiful little tarn. It has a National Trust car park, situated between Coniston and Hawkeshead, in Beatrix Potter country. It only takes about an hour to drive and was a favourite when…
