• permanent galleries The permanent exhibition tells the stories of Grantown from its founding in 1775 by the “Good Sir James” through the Scottish enlightenment, industry and inventions to a Victorian favourite retreat. Discover the townspeople who left their mark on the world, the movers and shakes of the 19th and 20th centuries. Hear about great inventions’ electrifying objects, and look back into the past with the extensive collection of old photographs. •temporary exhibitions There are temporary exhibitions during the season – historical exhibitions (such as the World War I exhibition in 2018), photography and art. Have a look at the What’s On page to see what is on at the moment and what is coming up. During the Winter months, there are various events, such as book launches, concerts, and talks. •visitor information centre Visitor Information: The Museum is a Visitor Information Centre providing free information about the area – what to do and where to go in the Cairngorms National Park, where you can stay, and how to get the most out of your visit. •gift shop - shop Our shop has a great collection of unique gifts and souvenirs: National Park merchandise, Glan Grant mementos, Scottish jewellery, toys, cards and bespoke items inspired from our Museum collection. We sell maps, guides and a good selection of local and Scottish book titles.
