If you are willing to take a hike through the dunes to get the to the water, Grand Mere is absolutely beautiful.

2 miles south. Warren Dunes State park is home to towering dunes, interdunal lakes, and 180° views of Lake Michigan. In winter, snow-covered dunes and deep blow-outs make for dramatic scenery, and offer plenty of opportunity for challenging hikes. Quiet and peaceful in winter, there are no rentals here.

Another great place to hike dunes, smaller and less crowded then Warren Dunes. The hike to the lake is beautiful, but be aware that the paths are less groomed and can be a bit challenging. A more "natural" place to experience nature :-)

What We Love: The unique landscape of the sand dunes that provides a challenging hike on a hot day - well worth the reward when you arrive at the pristine shoreline of Lake Michigan.
