This is our favourite restauarnt for special occasions. It is medium to high priced but well worth the trip and the money. Located in Dartmoor, this traditional Devon Longhouse has a superb choice of food and drink. The beer garden is lovely in the summer. Reservations are recommended and may not be open all days. 22 miles, 31 minute drive away.

'The Thatched Dartmoor Inn' is located between the small market towns of Tavistock and Okehampton on the A386. We are dog friendly and have plenty of parking. Just two miles south of the A30 and the border between Devon and Cornwall, it is easy to reach and yet is set amidst glorious remote walking country. The magnificent Sourton Tor, Corn Ridge and Great Links Tor are all just a walk away with the Granite Way cycle path running directly behind the pub. The chefs specialise in local produce - the West Country is blessed with wonderful supplies of meat, fish, vegetables as well as a host of small artisan producers of cheese, ice cream and smoked products. Where and whenever possible they source these direct from the farmer, fisherman or grower.

Great food, cosy pub inside , large outdoor area which is lovely to sit out in sun by the stream

This is another good pub - a much longer walk away over the moor, or you can get there along the Granite Way by foot or by bike which is accessible from Lydford.

This pub is on the northern edge of Dartmoor. It has a great garden out the back of the weather is good. Belstone is a short drive away and the walk down to the river from the village is well worth doing. Mind the free range sheep!
