Besides being a really awesome, spacious, and majestic field to relax and unwind, there is a lot of historical significance here! On this battlefield, General George Washington and his troops surprised and defeated a British Regulars force on January 3, 1777. You can also visit Clarke House is a two-story half Georgian frame house built in 1772 by Thomas Clarke, a quaker farmer. If you're into cool old houses, check out this place, which has been turned into an exhibit of sorts. Hours: Wednesdays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and Sundays from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Hiking: "A paved and gravel path travels the perimeter of the park. Adjacent to the park, the Institute Woods is comprised of a 589-acre mixed hardwood, wetlands and agricultural land with a variety of trails that are suitable for hiking. There are no specific ADA trails but most are level to slightly graded. Hiking trails lead to the Delaware and Raritan Canal." (from battlefield site)
