Great alternative to Safeway if you want to avoid the long lines that are present during weekends and holidays. It is across the Freeway from Donner Pass Road and before the "Mouse Hole"

This is the grocery store I recommend in Tahoe City (~5 miles) versus the Safeway in Tahoe City. It is a full grocery store and right at the entrance to the city.

Grocery store open until 11pm. (Sometimes 10 in off season. Bakery, Meat Department, Balloons, no florist, limited seafood. I prefer the produce at New Moon or Safeway.
