Great walking and sightseeing downtown Minneapolis and The Mississippi River.
Enjoy a great walk through the heart of historic downtown Minneapolis. See the mighty Mississippi roaring, up close. Check out the Mil City Museum, the Guthrie Theater, and the milling district that made Minneapolis the flour milling capital of the world, including famous brands: Pillsbury, General…
Beautiful arched bridge over the Mississippi between downtown and northeast Minneapolis. Overlooks St. Anthony Falls. Head down the stairs to the right of the bridge to check out a beautiful, little-traveled park along the river.
A must see! Walk over the Mississippi River from the north side of downtown to the south side and hear the roar of the water falling over the locks.

“World renowned. Its architectural wonders, the Amber Box and the Endless Bridge are a must-see, even if you don’t attend a play. Enter freely and ask directions or follow signs. Several good restaurants very nearby. I love the tuna poke at Sea Change. guthrietheater.org ”

“Longfellow House Hospitality Center is here, with info on the Grand Rounds and more. There’s a stone staircase to below the falls for a view looking up, and a stone wall on street level for a view from the side. Follow the trail further to a small sandy beach. The picnic grounds above are great, but Sea Salt, a restaurant nestled in the trees is even better, especially if you can nab a table outside. The line will be long, but it moves fast. There’s a wading pool and playground nearby the restaurant. Parking can be hairy, the large lot might be full, but if you don’t mind walking a bit, there are street side meters, or you can park on the residential streets not far away. ”

“With an explosive past, the Mill City Museum offers a unique look at local history on the ruins of the Washburn A Mill flour plant, which suffered a flour explosion in the late 1880s and a devastating fire in 1990.”
