Real Detroiters know that the best coney islands are the sketchiest coney islands. The less safe you feel picking up your food, the better the food is. That was the case for the coney island that once occupied this location for years in the neighborhood where I'm proud to say I grew up, right on the edge of what used to be Chaldean-Town. BUT NOW, Detroit One Coney Island has expanded from its first location on Woodward in midtown and totally renovated the old closed down Julian's Coney Island. Challenging the narrative of Coney culture, this location has no bullet proof glass and has such an amazing dining room that you may reconsider carryout upon arrival and cop a squat in a booth!
