Baird’s Tavern - 103 Main St., Warwick, NY - 11.3 miles - Have a beer where George Washington once sipped grog in 1783. Francis Baird moved his family out of New York City and settled in Warwick in 1766, when he constructed his home and tavern at the intersection of the road to Newburgh and Philadelphia and the Kings Highway. The stone for the building was quarried on site. During the Revolutionary War, Francis Baird played centrist, concerned with sustaining his business and keeping his family safe. As a matter of practice, Mr. Baird employed young men to watch out for troops in Warwick, and would fly the Union Jack flag if British troops were marching into Town, or the Colonial American flag for the Patriots. Step back in time and enjoy their specialty craft cocktails in one of Warwick's most historic buildings.

Cool historic tavern for a drink. George Washington, then Commander-in-chief of the Continental Army, recorded his 1783 tavern visit and purchase of grog in his diary. His wife, Martha, also stayed at Baird’s Tavern on her way to see Washington in his Newburgh headquarters in 1786.

Drink in some history at this delightful cocktail lounge where George and Martha Washington stayed the night. The place has fantastic little nooks to get comfortable around the fireplace. The servers wear suspenders and bow ties, it's a delight. They have broadway nights and theme evenings so check out their website!

Have a cocktail and learn some Warwick History in the beautiful stone tavern dating back to 1776, when they hosted George Washington. Occasional food trucks but there are several close restaurants. Feature trivia, Broadway at Baird's, and other musical entertainment.
