The Vischpoort was the only city gate in Harderwijk since 1673. The old town had two gates on the side of the former Zuiderzee and three other gates, but now there is only one gate that continues to a cozy square with many restaurants next to it, called 'Vischmarkt'. Next to this small area is what is left of an old wall that stretches in the distance along some of what used to be water.
