Outside of the entrance to the museum is an installation by Chris Burden called Urban Light. About 200 streetlights are distributed to create a grid-like effect with the museum’s facade and some palm trees in the background. It’s often quite busy, but it’s definitely large enough to get a shot of yourself inside the installation. Have a friend lie on the ground inside the installation, point the camera up, and snap a few shots to get the best photo.

The Los Angeles County Museum of Art is an art museum located on Wilshire Boulevard in the Miracle Mile vicinity of Los Angeles. LACMA is on Museum Row, adjacent to the La Brea Tar Pits. LACMA was founded in 1961, splitting from the Los Angeles Museum of History, Science and Art.
LACMA is the largest art museum in the western United States. The museum is being renovated, however, please verify which areas are open to the public on the dates of your visit.
Hands down favorite is the LACMA, both inside the Resnick Pavillion, and also wandering the grounds. LACMA is next to the La Brea Tar Pits, which is super for the kids.
The Los Angeles County Museum of Art is a perfect place to stroke your inner artisan. The beautiful Urban Light is a large sculpture at the entrance and is an installation of 202 restored street lamps from the 1920s and 1930s
Recent renovations are underway by Renzo Piano. This museum is a city staple. My last visit here was to see Yoshitomo Nara exhibit. You can also attend great lectures here and live jazz music on select nights.
20 minutes away, LACMA is the largest art museum in the western United States. It attracts nearly a million visitors annually. It holds more than 150,000 works spanning the history of art from ancient times to the present. In addition to art exhibits, the museum features film and concert series…

“Weekdays are the best, free parking til noon! On weekends you have to get in and out before 10am or it's $15/hour parking. There are a few Hollywood sign views along the way and it's just freaking AWESOME. Go up to Mount Hollywood peak, it's where we got married .. it's now called the Tom LaBonge Panorama, for the city council member who actually officiated our wedding. Awesome spot, highest point in Los Angeles, and our favorite spot in the whole city.”

“La Brea Tar Pits are a group of tar pits around which Hancock Park was formed in urban Los Angeles. Natural asphalt has seeped up from the ground in this area for tens of thousands of years. The tar is often covered with dust, leaves, or water. Over many centuries, the tar preserved the bones of trapped animals”

“Free! Just pay for parking. Majestic hilltop buildings, the art is Ok, the traveling collections can be great, but the real attraction is the space and gardens themselves. Must not miss!”

“Just two blocks from Hollywood Boulevard, Runyon Canyon Park is an often overlooked urban park that offers some great views. Atop the canyon, you can glimpse views of the San Fernando Valley and the Pacific Ocean, as well as the Hollywood Sign and Giffith Observatory. The park also boasts several hiking trails and is a popular spot for celebrities to exercise. Travelers say that the canyon is reminiscent of Old Hollywood with several old mansions and estates scattered throughout the park – keep your eyes peeled as you follow the trail. ”
