The back area of this big biergarten is filled with communal picnic tables and it's first come, first served. It's great for a casual night out because you know what to expect: a pitcher of beer and a burger or bratwurst. People love the grilled cheese sandwiches, too. Bring cash, prepare yourself for heavy metal and rock music blasting inside the bar, and don't mess with the bouncer or bartenders. They also have solid Bloody Marys, which are sometimes extremely necessary.

This is an unapologetic rock and roll bar that always plays a solid selection of rock, punk, and metal. It’s not for everyone. If you’re into beer, they have LOTS of great beers on tap (~30+) and good bar food. The garden out back is great on a sunny day.

Less than a five-minute walk, you will stumble into this casual beer garden, on the corner of Valencia/Duboce, that is always lively and has a large selection of beers and drinks.

Very hip Belgian hangout, serving beer, simple mixed drinks, & hot food to soak it up. Gorgeous outdoor area is the heart of this Thursday-night standard.

“When the weather is nice, you can barely see the grass due to the throngs of people lounging around. Luckily, the park was recently renovated and is big enough that you're bound to find a spot you like. The southwest corner is good for a panoramic view of the city skyline (and usually far enough away from the folks enjoying their herbal refreshments on the northern slope). There's also a nice kid's playground, although it's geared more towards older kids.”
