Characteristic village beautifully preserved, many hiking trails start form here, one amongst all the one for Monte Tambura is particularly spectacular. There is also a beautiful lawn where to chill under the trees and a bar (open during summer season only).

Wonderful views. Abandoned shepherds village. Good restaurant. David Bowie filmed a movie here

If you stay a little more in Lucca, Garfagnana is a must and Campo Catino is my favourite.

There is a beautiful shepherds village in Campo Catino with popular hiking and nature trails. There is grassed picnic area and a restaurant/bar for a meal or snack and refreshments. Great views!

Campocatino is a mountain locality in the Apuan Alps, in the municipality of Vagli di Sotto). It is located at 1000 m a.s.l. and includes a large basin of glacial origin. Inside we find the typical pastoral buildings called "caselli" which have been preserved with the ancient constructive characteristics. Since 1991 it has become the "Natural Oasis of LIPU". The film "My West" with David Bowie was shot there
