It is a cool place with a great beach and the famous 3rd Street Promenade. You can find many street artists and see amazing stores. There are also many great places to eat and the Pier is also great.

Not the closes to Burbank, but the most rewarding. Santa Monica is filled with roller skating, Cold drinks, and a beach to splash in. The best time to drive to Santa Monica is 8-3 pm, 5 pm is the absolute worse time due to traffic! I like to go early, beach all day, and drive back around 7-8 pm when traffic has died down a little.
