Getting Around
Your way from the airport to Gili Air:
We recommend to take a Blue Bird taxi from the airport to Bangsal harbour. Once you arrive at Bangsal you need a boat to Gili Air. Unfortunately, the harbor is not really a place where you feel comfortable. Many people try to sell boat tickets, day trips and other things. To protect yourself against fraud, it is advisable to buy tickets at the official ticket office. This is located on the stairs before heading to the beach. There is no timetable for the public boat. It will depart when there are 30 passengers’ names on the list. Put your name on the list at the ticket office and await the announcement of departure. Try to get to Bangsal at around 09:30AM or 10:30AM as most boats go in the morning. Please note that the last public boat leaves approximately by 4 pm. If you don't want to wait, you can also charter a boot or buy the rest of the tickets. There are fixed prices for the public boat (12.000 IDR/person) and a boat charter (360.000 IDR/person) between 7am and 16.30pm. If you arrive outside this time, the price depends on your bargaining skills. If you like or forced to charter a boat, a speed boat charter at the harbor Teluk Nara is preferable. If you need a horse cart at Gili Air, they are waiting at the harbor. The price is 100.000 IDR/horse cart.

Arrival from Bali by fast boat
The fast boats depart from Padang Bai (East Bali), Serangan/Sanur (South Bali) or Amed (North East Bali). Which port you choose depends on your preference (longer trip by boat or car) and, of course, where you are staying at Bali. Tickets can be purchased online at the official website of the boat operator or at an online travel agent. It is also no problem to buy tickets during your stay in Bali. Recommend boats are Bluewater Express or Gili Getaway, a cheaper boat is Eka Jaya.

If you arrive at Lombok airport, we can help you to organize the transfer to your accommodation (private car, private speed boat and horse cart). The price is Rp1,100,000 for 2 pax. Please contact us for more informations.
But you also have the option to take a taxi (around Rp450,000) or public transport (DAMRI - Rp20,000) to Bangsal harbour and catch a public boat (Rp20,000/pax) or public speed boat (Rp85,000/pax). If you like to charter a boat you can do so in Teluk Nara.

Shops
There are several shops where you can buy (cloth, toiletries, mosquito spray, sun cream, basic medication). But since the transport to Gili is quite expensive, everything is more expensive as on Lomobok or Bali.

Please dress respectfully in the village
Although the residents of Gili Air are very tolerant, you are asked to dress respectfully in the village and shops. On the beach, however, you are welcome to walk around in shorts and bikini.

Eat like the locals and buy "nasi pungkus" - take away rice
There are numerous small warungs, or street vendors selling nasi campur (mixed rice). In most cases, these are dishes that have already been cooked and are presented in a display. You can then put together your rice from the various dishes offered (vegetables, fish, chicken). The price varies depending on the meal chosen and starts at Rp15,000. A popular place is Farida Warung. Our employees are happy to recommend their favoured places, just ask them!

Mona it the owner of a small restaurant called Orange Warung close to our accommodation Taman Senang. She is always smiling and an excellent cook. The place is simple but the fried chicken is delicious and one portion is nearly enough for 2 people.
