Visit the ruins - If you want to ride like a local there are vans that stop right outside the house every hour or so that will take you up to the ruins for no more than a couple soles. If you don't the like the idea of being packed like sardines into a van you can grab a taxi by the orange bridge in the town or walk up the mountain from the main plaza.

These three lakes are a perfect day trip, tell your taxi driver you want to go to Kinsa Cocha and they will drop you off at the first of three lakes. From here there are a few different trails you can choose to explore. Make sure you ask the taxi driver to come back for you at a certain time because it can be hard to find transport home from there.
