This is the closest winery to our hillside cottage. In addition to delicious wines like the Elevation Cabernet, they also have an outdoor sculpture exhibit and a fantastic view from the tasting room.

"Underwood" is located in the tiny town of Graton. It has an old western feel that includes a beautiful antique bar. A fun place with lots of character, good food and outdoor bocci ball court.

Old general store that has great sandwiches. Good place to stop for lunch as you tour the dry creek valley wineries. You'll find that it's a popular biker hangout on the weekends.

If you like raw oysters on the half shell, pick up one or two dozen kumamoto or small sweetwater oysters. They farm them here and they're as fresh as can be. Borrow our ice chest before you go.

The wines here aren't my favorite, but the place is worth checking out. There's some interesting movie memorabilia and the pool area is fantastic. Pretty interesting stuff in the gift shop too.

This park is just down the hill and a few miles north of our cottage. Sibylla goes hiking here quite often. This is a park with short and somewhat level hikes. Try the Three Lake Trail.

If you're a Hitchcock fan, you'll remember the scene from The Birds where the terrified kids run from this building while crows attack. Lots of fun to check out on your way back from the beach.

From the cliffs there are stunning views of large rocks in the water. Don't forget your camera. Good footwear is recommended until you get to the beach.

This really interesting rammed earth building has a large tasting room and lots of great wines to try. I like the Lytton Springs Zinfandel. The 3 Valleys Zin and Mataro are pretty good too.

These guys make a lot of different varietals and just about everything they make is really good. The Cabs, Zins and Merlot wines all stand out.

The local paper had a contest and voted Armstong Redwoods the best spot for a picnic. Not as famous as Muir Woods, but closer to the cottage.

April 23, 2014. We just had lunch here yesterday. The onion soup was rich and delicious. We also had the duck sandwich and the ribeye/ french dip sandwich. Take home a seeded baguette.
