Besides well-known as old capital, nowadays Kotagede is widely-known for its architectures, of which mix of javanese and Indisch architecture. Houses with art deco style can be found here too. If you are architecture and history aficionado, this is a must visit place.

Parangtritis beach is the nearest beach from the heart of Yogyakarta. The location is in desa (village) Parangtritis, Bantul, 27 kilos from Yogyakarta. What makes this beach unique is the sand. Spewed from the volcanic mountain of Merapi, the sand color Parangtritis is black instead of white. Note: please kindly note that the wave of Parangtritis is not suitable for swimming. Instead you can enjoy feet dipping, sunset and other activities such as horse riding, ATV etc.
