Sightseeing
It is a favourite surf beach offering protection from the summer north easterlies. The beach picks up all available swell so it's great for the intermediate surfer and above, with short powerful rides.
A perfect beach for ideal long walks, taking a camel safari ride, beach fishing and 4WD access at the southern end. The beach is patrolled during the School Holidays (northern end, near the surf club and cafe).
Visit the historic Tacking Point Lighthouse with was built in 1879 which is the final stop along the scenic coastal walk, enjoy the viewing platform for a stunning view along the coastline, it is also a great vantage point for whale watching from May to November.
South of Watonga Rocks on this long stretch of beach, is the perfect place for taking your four-legged friend for some energetic dog beach play. You can let your friend off the lead from this point, please be sure to check signage on the beach for details on leashed and unleashed areas.

The colourful grafitti rocks that lead you along the breakwall are a collage of messages, tributes and memories from visitors and locals. Starting from Town Green, the breakwall is a popular starting point of the nine kilometre Coastal Walk out to Tacking Point Lighthouse at Lighthouse Beach. It is a favourite spot for locals and visitors to take a leisurely stroll and spot marine life, marvel at watercraft coming in over the bar of Town Beach, chat with people who are casting their fishing lines and just take in the beauty of this picturesque location.
There are chairs along the path and many big flat rocks to sit on and gaze out over the river and to the sea. There is a cafe at the Town Green end, and at the Town Beach end you'll find a skate park where you will see energetic and entertaining skills of bike, scooter and skateboard riders. Nearby are covered picnic tables, barbecues and a kiosk with toilet facilities.

Hello Sailor PMQ as a conception, was originally conceived in 2018, two mates discovered an old unused Boat Mechanic shed with a huge outdoor waterfront area on the idyllic Hastings River within The Port Macquarie Marina, with huge potential.
The now owners at the time were both on different career path’s but both have a love for event organising, live music, activating unused spaces and celebrating the best of times.
12 months of procrastination until the temptation became to great. Holidaying on different sides of the world, 1 owner overheating in the 40-degree heat and the other freezing in minus 35-degree Canadian temperatures, the button was pressed over drinks on FaceTime.
Our passions is Street Food, Cocktails & Craft Beers, but we have been working hard on a beautiful handpicked wines & sparkling’s list also. There will be something for everyone to enjoy in a pretty spectacular waterfront setting.
