Follow the Foreshore walk back up the river, past the Seafood Co-Op under the bridge to where the Wallamba River joins the Coolongolook river and along Point Road. All still a leisurely walk from the Beach house, This part of Tuncurry can be particularly picturesque to watch the sunsets on a foreshore walk as its facing west and the open sky above the inland waterways all along Point Rd here

McBrides Beach is on the north side of Cape Hawke, an area known for its outstanding beauty, rugged cliffs and offshore reefs. Though it takes just 25 minutes to make the 600m walk down to this pretty hideaway, you’ll feel a million miles away.

This place is the perfect spot for a romantic or fine dinner, a nice walk along the river forshore from the beach house. Its on the more expensive end but the setting and service is magnificent and the new management ensure top chefs always provide very high quality food. A great dining experience a nice walk from Tuncurry Beach Guest House.

Si Senorita is a great sunset bar and mexican restaurant overlooking the water just on the othwr side of the bridge. Absolutely worth the walk (or drive) over the bridge for a visit here.

Salt by The Sea, recently under new management and owners is fantastic for takeaway fish and chips or burgers. Order online and pick up just a couple of hundred metres from the guest house. Good quality, quick and easy takeaway food and coffee close to home.

This delightful bar and cafe is right on the water overlooking the Breckenridge Channel. To get there from the guest house, walk across the bridge to Forster, then its about two thirds down along Little Steet on the water front. Great vibe.

Sightseeing

This lookout is a lesser known gem. Easy enough drive but 4 Wheel Drive or confident driver in suitable vehicle is recomended to get here. There is a picnic table and clearing on the hilltop amidst the National Park give expansive views west across Wallis Lake and 7 Mile Beach and Forster Tuncurry and the surrounding regions and all the way north up the coast. Beautiful rainforest and bushland on the drive in.

Or just a short drive from the guest house. I have often seen whales just below the headland here or jumping from the water off 1 Mile Beach from the various lookouts and viewing platform'shere in Whale season.

About and hour or less drive from Tuncurry Beach Guest house is said to be the tallest tree in New South Wales. Set in a spectacular real rainforest setting there water and toilets and picnic table here. Great forest. Huge tree. Lovely to see and well worth it.

Stand up Paddle board and Kayak Hire. Red Spot Jetty is one of the many boat sheds along Little St Forster where you can hire paddle boards, boats etc and explore Breckenridge channel and the islands.

Beautiful waterfalls and swimming hole in the rainforest to consider for the more adventurous. The last part of the road in is not sealed and conditions vary so sometimes not suited for low vehicles or 2 wheel drives.

At the other end of 9 mile Beach, Tuncurry and the Guest house is Black Head. This lovely headland and beach is well worth a visit particularly if you are here on a weekend of the very popular Black Head Markets. There is a kiosk/ cafe by the beach at Black Head and a nice little Bowling Club hidden away on the headland where you can buy a nice meal and have a drink. Follow the walking trail behind the bowling club to find another of Black Heads secrets.

Local Markets

There are a range of local farmers markets and general markets. All are worth checking out. I think the easiest way, is to search Markets Mid North Coast. or 'markets Mid Coast Council, 'Farmers Markets' etc and you will find lists to markets that are on your weekend. These are fantastic worthwhile local markets- Tuncurry, Forster, Pacific Palms, Black Head, Nabiac.

First choice, for a great coffee and tasty healthy breakfast when staying at The Guest House, is Rock Pool Cafe at the the fantastic Rockpool Beach Tuncurry. 'The Rock Pool' as its known is a popular local swimming and meeting place including the cafe, the beach and the surrounding waterfront park land. The walk along 9 Mile Beach is fantastic of a morning, and be good for surfing and swimming all year around depending upon conditions.

Walk across the Bridge to Forster and try the wonderful cafes and restaurants all along Breckenridge Channel starting with '1959' cafe which is the top pick in town for coffee, vibe and view for the early crack of dawn. Arrive early just after they open and before the later morning crowds arrive. This is one of the best spits for a break of day Coffee. The Good Grub Shack Tuncurry for Seriously the tastiest and best range of burgars and chips etc. Search The Giid Grub Shack, Tuncurry; on maps. The Fish and chips van and The Seafood Co-operative is a nice short walk from the beach house. Good value and quality fish and chips. enjoy your meal at the tables on the waterfront deck there. Why not get some fresh seafood from the Co Op before leaving to BBQ later at the Beach House The Good Grub Shack vegetarian burgers or Anatolias Turk Restaurant does a great falafel kebab. It's always worth booking ahead for the nicer restaurants in Forster Tuncurry. Despite the large number of restaurants and food outlets it is not uncommon for almost all to be booked out ahead at peaks season and other times of year. It's worth ringing ahead to book a table at your favourite restaurant.
