How to always get friendly service and help
Whenever greeting South Africans tend to ask how a person is. It’s a long story and relates to Bantu languages. But if you do this people will be much more friendly and helpful.

Don’t walk around at night if you can help it.
Crime is a problem in South Africa. During the day walking around Cape Town is fairly safe (just be alert) but I would strongly discourage it in the evenings.
