West Bank Grocery
417 Cedar Ave
Convenience-store type groceries, but also the cheapest pitas in town, injera bread, and lighters. Open until 10 or 11 (I think whenever the owner decides), so good for quick needs
Library with computers that you can use for an hour if you sign up at the front desk. You can also obviously hang out and read, and they have way more than just academic literature

This is where I get almost all of my groceries. It has a lot of local and organic food, and is pretty reasonably priced (they also take food stamps, if that's an issue). Delicious deli, too.

If you're in this neighborhood, it's a pretty cheap local grocery, and supporting something that's been there so long feels great

Second-closest co-op. A little more expensive, but it does have bulk tahini and a good deli (and tasty shakes and smoothies in back--yes, vegan!)

The city's largest library, with well-known (if not my favorite) architecture. Usually library functions, and many buses stop there

Everything Else

Gives away organic food to low-income neighborhoods, and to you if you volunteer. Also hosts local theatre and builds for the Barebones outdoor Halloween show, which I'd be happy to take you to!

Here's where I go to yoga class, and they have many options, including donation-based classes (which are what I go to). They also offer massages.

It took me four years to find this, but it's RIGHT on the west river parkway bike trail. Stunning beauty.

Last summer, hosted an all-night festival of lights that I got to be a part of--really hoping that happens again! Also on a bike trail, and by some of the cities historic mill ruins (obviously)

Interesting architecture, and several stages. The productions are a bit too traditional and expensive for my tastes, but very well-known, and well-done in that style.

Beautiful bike trail.Sad that the fort still fires hourly, which serves as a reminder that it was (and is) seated on Native American sacred ground. Right past Minnehaha Falls. Worth a respectful trip
