Stop at Eagle River Nature Center for a great day trip.

GPS "Glen Alps Trailhead" aka Flattop to locals which is only about 10 minutes up the hillside into Chugach Park. There is a parking area ($5) and a short walk to Beautiful panoramic views of the city, mountains, and inlet. Several easier trails and the more difficult trail to the top of Flattop for the more adventurous. Bathroom, too.
