One of the best places to snorkel in West Maui. Only a 10 min drive from the condo. Take the highway north out of Kapalua. You'll see the Honolua Bay overlook at mile marker 32, and cars parked on the side of the road by mile marker 32.5. Park anywhere in this area and walk north to the sharp bend in the road and the trailhead to the bay.

A great hike along Makamakaole stream to a beautiful and refreshing waterfall. Only 2 mi RT, but 500 ft elevation gain. Trailhead is about an hour from the condo. Work up a sweat and relax in the pool at the base of the waterfall!

Allow 2-1/2 hrs each way to drive from Kahana Reef and check the weather forecast before you go. You should also bring a jacket or sweatshirt because it can be fairly chilly at the summit!

Great place for a daily wakeup walk! Just under 3 miles roundtrip from the condo with a nice climb. I often get up before sunrise and wakeup with a climb to the airport 😎

One of our favorite hikes! This trail takes about 2 hours roundtrip, depending on whether you go to just one or both waterfalls. A stream branching to the right after the 13th crossing (or the 14, or 15th, depending on how you count crossings!) takes you to the larger pool, just a few hundred yards beyond the branch, while staying to the left takes you to the smaller of the two pools, Both have beautiful waterfalls!

Cook your fish "island style"
Prep your whitefish (preferably Ono, a local favorite) in advance - combine warm (just soft, not fully melted) butter & chopped cilantro. Roll the butter/cilantro mixture in plastic wrap (like a banana) & place in the refrigerator for at least an hour. Buy banana or taro leaves & string (Island Grocery in Lahaina). When ready to BBQ, set the grill at med heat. Lay out fish on a banana leave, top with slices of the butter mixture, salt & pepper. Fold leaf over fish to create a "butter proof" package. Tie with string to secure. BBQ for 10 minutes. Open & serve on leaf!
