Bicentennial Park is the location for City of Darwin’s major public art commission depicting a story of the Larrakia, Darwin’s traditional owners, and their strong saltwater connection. mirragma gunugurr-wa refers to the bamboo raft that Larrakia people used to cross the ocean from Cox Peninsula to Darwin. The sculpture consists of a 4m steel mermaid tail and bamboo raft that tells a Mermaid Dreaming story, complete with tidal markings and Larrakia language inscribed on the base of the work. Larrakia artists Roque and Trent Lee developed the concept for mirragma gunugurr-wa, with public art consultants GARUWA Creative, helping to bring it to life. The location of mirragma gunugurr-wa was chosen in collaboration with Larrakia Nation Aboriginal Corporation, with the artwork enhancing an already iconic location.

The sunset fish 'n chips cruise was a beautiful way to end our day in Darwin. It was well organised and informative, with nature throwing in a pod of frolicking dolphins, sea eagles and a gorgeous sunset. The boat was clean and comfortable and the fresh fish and chips, delish! It was a highlight of our NT visit. We would definitely do it again. Diana and Eduard, from NSW

In Litchfield National Park (referred to fondly as Litchy by locals) the opportunities for adventure are endless. Just a short drive from Darwin, Litchfield is one of the Northern Territory's best kept secrets. Whether you splash beneath misty waterfalls, marvel at unusual termite mounds, hop between waterholes or hike the walking trails, you’ll never get bored on a day trip to this stunning national park. The waterfalls of Litchfield National Park make for a dramatic sight during summer. See the twin cascades of Florence Falls and follow 160 steps down to the deep, cool plunge pool. Take the short walk to Buley Rockhole, a series of waterfalls and waterholes that teem with life in the wet season. Swim and picnic alongside thundering Wangi Falls, where marsupial mice, frogs and frilled-neck lizards dart around the water's edge. Finally, stop to see the fields of Magnetic Termite Mounds, two-metre (6.6-foot) tall mounds built by termites during the wet season. If you exit Litchy via Batchelor, you can stop at the Rum Jungle Tavern in Batchelor for a coldie and something to eat before you drive back to Darwin. What once was an old recreational club has been taken on as a new project by the McElwee Family who have been Northern Territory Locals for 3 generations. This outback tavern is a must stop if you are visiting Litchfield National Park.
