Lakeport is about 45 mins away, and makes for an excellent half-day or full-day trip.

Only about 20 mins away. The redbud trail here is a spectacular and varied all-day hike for a cooler day. Despite it's length (14 miles), it's quite flat and easier than it sounds.

A beautiful lighthouse on the wild and breathtaking Northern California coast. About 2 hours away. Combine this with a trip to the one of the natural reserves along Mendocino, or a trip to Fort Bragg and glass beach. There's also Point Arena lighthouse a little further away.

About 3 hours north of Clearlake. If you liked Muir Woods, you will be floored by this state park. Drive the "Avenue of the Giants" scenic drive or hike one of the trails: from the 0.8 mile Rockefeller grove to the 10 mile Bull Creek flats loop. Shaded and therefore doable even in summer. Combine this with a trip to Ferndale.

From stark lunar landscapes inside cinder cones to alpine lakes with every shade of blue and green, Lassen is a must visit. In winter, try the northern Manzanita Lake entrance. Make a short detour to Redding for some great food, coffee and perhaps a visit to the unique sundial bridge.
This is a great state park by the lake shore - some excellent short hikes as well as one of the best swimming spots on the lake. About 25 mins away and can be combined with a hike up Mt Konocti in the county park nearby.
