Southport's southern charm is ready to sweep you off your feet! Our city sits at the mouth of the Cape Fear River which is known as the Grave Yard of the Atlantic because of all the shipwrecks in the shallow waters. The city also is know for its many fresh seafood restaurants and the movies made here, most recently two of Nicolas Sparks' books turned film, "A Walk to Remember" in 2002 and "Safe Haven" in 2013. You can choose to stay in town and enjoy the small town atmosphere or venture to nearby beaches in Brunswick County at Oak Island or Caswell Beach, or the New Hanover Beaches of Wrightsville Beach, Carolina Beach and Kure Beach.

NC Southport Ferry Terminal will take you and your car across the Cape Fear River to New Hanover County where you can visit the NC Aquarium, Civil War Ft. Fisher museum or Kure & Carolina Beaches. The ferry can also take you to Bald Head Island to visit one of North Carolina's many light houses, however vehicles are not permitted on the island.
