Best bagel shop in downtown, and only a short jaunt down the road. The original owner is still here every single morning (I have never not seen him there) saying 'hello' to guests and maintaining great quality bagels and schmear. The coffee ain't bad either.

It's a great stop on the way to a show or to dinner, and comfortable enough to enjoy an entire evening indulging. The design of this small bar is eye candy for the tourist and refreshing for the local.

They house all genres of books, though it's smaller in size than the flagship, downtown Powell's. It's on a block chock full of other fun eateries, coffee shops and gift stores, so carve out some time to explore while you're in this 'hood.

The Hawthorne location is super walkable (about a half mile) but don't miss their shop on SE Grand Ave. – it's a larger and more open space, also walkable (about a mile), and the Grand location also houses handmade furniture and toys by Bamboo Revolution for sale.
